Meet GoFundraise’s new Relationship Manager, David Holmes
We are extremely excited to introduce the newest member of our team, David Holmes. We are very fortunate to be in a position where we’ve been able to expand our team during such a challenging year. David brings a wealth of experience to the team and is looking forward to helping our charities and events raise more this year.
“Hi, I’m David. I have firsthand experience in the NFP sector, most recently at Melanoma Institute Australia where I managed the community fundraising program. I love fundraising and have a special interest in cancer treatment and prevention. I’m excited to be joining the GoFundraise team and to work with so many charities on their digital campaigns. I look forward to helping you achieve your goals and raise more funds through digital technology.”
What are you excited to do in your new role at GoFundraise?
I’m excited that I get to work alongside a variety of charities of varying causes and to be given the opportunity to draw from my experience to help maximise their fundraising potential.
Why did you get into fundraising initially?
Prior to fundraising I had a corporate background but I always wanted to make a meaningful contribution to society through everyday work. GoFundraise provides the perfect platform for me and many others to make a real difference.
What campaign that you’ve worked on during your career are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of my involvement in Melanoma March, an initiative of Melanoma Institute Australia. The annual event is held in over 20 locations throughout Australia and in 2019 raised over $1,000,000 through the GoFundraise platform. Funds raised contribute toward better treatment for people diagnosed with melanoma.
How do you think fundraising will evolve over the next 12 months?
In 12 months I expect the fundraising landscape to significantly change in the not-for-profit sector. Charitable institutions will grow in confidence using the latest fundraising technology. Hosting virtual events or designing their own fundraising event page will only increase, particularly with companies like GoFundraise that provide the technology and the guidance for charities to maximise their reach and effectiveness.
